Introduction

There are millions of degree programs around the world to choose from, and students who want to study abroad often have to go through lengthy and difficult search processes. In cooperation with the British Council, StudyPortals mystery shopped the world´s top 500 universities. Forty carefully selected data points were used in order to give us the clearest picture of what university recruitment processes look like to international students. We’ll share insights into the results and present a global snapshot of the extensive data and main findings.

Tiina Niemi works at StudyPortals in the position of Research and PR Pioneer, where she discovers and reports on trends in studying abroad from the student perspective. Tiina has a master's degree in environmental engineering but found her real passion within the education business. She is now completing a second degree in the School of Education at the University of Tampere. Tiina spent a year in Italy studying at Politecnico di Milano and six months at the University of Twente in the Netherlands working on her thesis. Before joining StudyPortals, she acted as a liaison for international students and staff at the International Office of Tampere University of Technology.
